The Kitchen
This is not really the kitchen, actually the Dining Room, but we all call it the kitchen, so
I'll run with it.  The beauty of this room is it is multi functional.  We eat here, and do
art, science and cooking activities here. This is also where the "big kids" play with toys
with smaller parts, when we don't have a "big kid area" incorporated into the main
playroom
At the Little House the children eat two snacks and lunch every day.   Meals are served
"family style", meaning I put the food on platters, and the children serve themselves
their own portions.  This enables them to decide how much they want of each food
component. They also pour their own drinks.  The older children like to help the younger
ones (even when sometimes they don't want the help !!)  The children all learn to ask to
be excused from the table at the end of each meal or snack.

As well as meal time, the kitchen is used for art activities,
playing with manipulatives, play doh, and preschool
activities.
Sometimes meals can be
just TOO tiring !!
