| All about me |
| My name is Jenny, and I am the proprietor of The Little House Childcare. I was born in England, and moved to the USA in 1997. I have been happily married to Randall since 1997, and we are the very proud parents of Nathaniel, born in June 2003, who is now in school. I have worked with children of all ages since 1985, in a variety of settings. I started out as a full time volunteer at a residential school for children with cerebral palsy. This led to a ten year stint at a summer camp in New Jersey - I would fly over every summer for about 3 months, then go back to England, and find a job to finance the following years trip. The summer camp catered for children age 7-18 with a wide variety of disabilities. Between summers at camp, I worked as a nanny; in a group home for deaf/blind adults; in a nursing home; at a school for children with severe challenging behavior; at residential schools; and as an aide at a summer program for deaf/blind children. When I moved to the USA, I worked at Children's Care Hospital and School here in Sioux Falls for a couple of years, until I was in a position to open my daycare in November 2000. We started out in a rented house, then eighteen months later we moved to our current location, in central Sioux Falls, a few blocks east of Sanford Hospital. I am registered with both the City of Sioux Falls and the State of South Dakota. The first is mandatory, the second voluntary. I take part in the CACFP Food Program, which regulates the menus I serve to the children, and ensures I adhere to the rules - I get several unannounced visits every year, where meals are monitored and paperwork checked. I have taken First Aid courses, and Infant and Child CPR (which I renew every 2 years). I am required to take a certain amount of training classes every year, and often exceed the mandated training hours. |
